Prepare to succeed
One of our readers asked for advice on how to become indispensable at work so that she could keep her job and also how to earn the respect and sympathy of her boss and jobmates. I believe that many of us have experienced a common situation and therefore I wanted to share my opinion with all of you, based on my own experience.

First of all, to become indispensable is key to preserve a job. In difficult situations such as companies being forced to reduce their staff, those who will have a greater probability to stay, will be the ones who know the process better or came up with good ideas to improve it. Therefore, not only doing your job properly is vital, but also to learn all about your company and the business. By doing this, you may identify new challenges that can help you grow within the company and will also benefit the business. In addition, you need to keep yourself updated with the help of education. If you notice that you like your job a lot, although it's not related to your studies, why not start a new career and become even better. Be proactive and continue learning. Buy books, take online tutorials, take seminars and courses, the key to success is in your hands. Having a good relationship with your colleagues also makes a difference. You don't need to be best friends, but cultivating respect and a good disposition to work as a team makes the office atmosphere more pleasant. As a plus, always be yourself. Being insecure or having complexes make people missjudge you or even reject you. Keep a positive attitude and be professional. | ![]() |
Achieve your goals and dreams. Keep in mind your vision, how far you want to go, what you want to do, who you want to become. Otherwise, you'll be stuck in a boring position that will make you unhappy. If new opportunities in your company arise, let your boss know that your are ready to step up. Little by little you will be closer to the job of your dreams.
Finally, dress to impress according to your budget. Did you know that good looking people earn between 12 and 17% more than the rest? When you know that you look good, it boosts your self-esteem giving you the confidence you need to get what you want. Keep these figures in mind every morning when you're getting ready for work.
