A new beginning

Two years ago I was searching for an afro magazine and managed to find some in English, French and even Portuguese, but none in Spanish, my mother language.

I imagined that many other women where in the same situation, so I decided to create one myself. That's how Caoba was born in 2006, with the purpose of providing black Spanish speaking women with an online magazine especially for us, with articles about hair care and beauty, but also culture, lifestyles and afro news.

Soon after the launch of our first edition, we began to receive messages from our readers, who were thankful for the initiative but mainly for putting together a website that represents us. The positive feedback that we continue to receive, encourages us to improve and keep growing.

We've managed to become the #1 online magazine for afrolatin women, as well as a point of connection and unity for the afrolatin community in general. From today on, we are aiming to achieve a bigger goal, to be the channel of communication between african and afrodescendents around the world.

We've prepared our first English edition with a lot of effort and enthusiasm and hope you will enjoy the outcome as much as we enjoyed the process.
